As high octane unobtanium circulates a ferris wheel in France, i’m trying to make a side gravel driveway nice again. This isn’t a, “just put new gravel on top,” fix. Doing that will make it (exaggerated by facitiousness) 6 inches higher than the regular pavement driveway, where gravel will spill over.
No. I need to separate dirt and years dead tree droppings out of the gravel, somehow make the gravel look not like dirt balls, and then it would be nice again.
I raked and scraped most of it on to the regular driveway to thin it all out, but even then it’s still junked up with crap.
Ideas?

Had the same problem at my grandparents house a few years ago. The upper driveway, we basically removed everything and put in new gravel, after trimming all nearby trees substantially to keep it from going back to the old, mixed in look. There was 20 years worth of weeds growing in the driveway as well. Lower driveway... Decided to just live with it.
You could try paving it on your own? How hard could it be, amirite

Are you just trying to wash the gravel? Would be easier to get some new gravel, and a compactor. My neighbor does that every couple years where he parks his RV. You may have to remove an inch or two of material if you want it perfectly flush with the concrete.

I think he just places the new gravel on top, and drives the compactor he rents over it (Compactor is a small remote controlled one).

man. well, I think I’ll shift it to another spot where I’m needing much more gravel anyway. then I’ll put the new on that section elsewhere and make the rest of the spots matching gravel types.

Seems like over the longrun he would be better off just getting a slab poured. He’s spending probably $400-500 every 2 years including the machine rental.
